About Sing First!
Sing First! is based on the First Steps in Music program created by Dr. John Feierabend. The program was created through careful research to appropriately develop children socially, mentally, and physically. Check out what PBS has to say about music education before age 3!
“Sing First! is a music program designed for children 0-7 and their parents or caretakers who love them to attend together. Our classes provide a safe, unique, and joyful experience in which children can develop emotionally, physically, and socially; while fostering a lifelong love of music and deepening their bond with their parents. Each 45 minute class is an explosion of fun full of singing activities, instrumental play, dance and movement! Parents will take away skills to continue the fun and education at home and children will take away:
- Inspiration to listen, feel, and move to music
- Stimulated imaginative skills
- Stronger sensory awareness
- Development of language and motor skills
- Sense of ease in social situations

Being a Co-Owner of Sing First! is a dream come true for Jillian Maldonado. Music has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember. Jillian holds a Bachelor of History degree from Berry College and received her First Steps Certification in 2017. She has always been very musically active throughout her life playing the flute and piccolo in various top ensembles. Jillian considers herself lucky to have been surrounded by family that helped her grow and learn in her musical education. She has worked as the Music Director of Vacation Bible School at St. Michael the Archangel in Woodstock for many years, as well as having the joy of singing and playing in many different church choirs. She was fortunate enough to enroll her daughter in First Steps in Music when she was 6 months old and was so impressed with the effects it had on her, her husband, and herself, that she couldn’t wait to start her own business based on these principles!
Jillian lives in Canton with her husband Bart, their children Evangelina, Matteo, Leonardo and their dog Hank.
